This year the Street Party was on Sunday 25 September along Union Street.

We celebrated everything that is great about Stonehouse in the past, today and the areas exciting future...all inspired by the Palace Theatre and it's music hall and variety acts era.

Acts and activities...in no particular order!!!

Music by...True Grit, Mama Tokus, Sheridan, Alas Smith & Tappin, our local Elvis, Sabina and Daisy

Art by...Beth Richards 'The Handcuff King' inspired by Houdini performing at the Palace Theatre and part of the British Art Show 7

Performances by... Plymouth Community Circus and Emerge Community Arts CIC will wow the crowds with a fire extravaganza! Bellydancer Amera and her troop, Circus Stars will give taster sessions and juggle away, Tellus School of English present Seyfali Theatre from Turkey and their production of Cinderella, Mr Magic, Jozef Dempsey, Punch and Judy and lots more...

Children activities by...Stonehouse Playspace will have a climbing wall, skate park, face painting and a mobile play barn, Plymouth Play Association are running junk art and ride on toys, Stonehouse Youth Projects are singing, creating a mural, and capturing what happens on the day, plus egg and spoon races and lots more...

Chat to... Plymouth Community Homes, Working Links, Police, Plymouth City Council Sustainable Transport Team, Amber Initiatives, Gloucester Court Residents, the Community Health Improvement Team, Plymouth & West Devon Record Office, and the Big Issue

Eat... Kurdish food, pasties, Nepalese food, cream teas, ice creams, fresh fruit and vegetables

Plus....Look at the world in a different way with Camper Obscura and Fotonow, craft workshops for adults, hoola hoop lessons, enjoy a massage with Compton Muscle Therapy, look at local images and stories with Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery and look at books written by Stonehouse residents about the area, learn to ride a bike with a Bikeability Instructor and Plymouth City Council are also providing FREE Bikeability cycle training for everyone, so bring your bike along!  Come early if you fancy dressing up and join in the opening parade, and stay to help make a very noisy finale!
